Community Gateway Association(CGA) colleagues, local residents and councillors put on their Hard Hats and Hi Vis jackets as Preston’s largest social housing provider started its latest new development to build new affordable homes in Preston.
“The Larches” is a small development of 22 new homes in the heart of the community, a mix of 2 and 3 bedroom homes built by Hollinwood Homes.
The £1.4 million development supported by funding from the Homes and Communities Agency is set to replace a former labour club that had been derelict for a number of years.
CGA Board member and local Councillor Sam Gardiner and CGA's acting Chair Irene Bailey had the honour of laying a brick at the new development and joined local residents in celebrating the start of the building work.
Cllr Gardiner commenting at the event said, “I would like to thank Community Gateway Association, Hollinwood Homes and local residents in joining me today as we start work on these fantastic new homes. It is great to see the community come together and be part of something special. “
The homes are due for completion in March 2013, and follows other developments in the City that will see CGA build 98 new affordable homes.
