Nick Woods, Neighbourhood Team Leader at Beechdale, said: “People have often spoken to us about the lack of play equipment in the area so we made this a priority project for Beechdale. The kids we’ve spoken to are really looking forward to it!”
The project follows extensive consultation with customers. This included door-to door visits, drop-in sessions, an all-day open event as well as lots of written information.
A special meeting held to allay people’s worries concerning the introduction of the sport and play facility came up with an action plan. Nick said: “Having a park in your area can be worrying but we have to balance the needs of the community. We will work closely with our local partners, such as the local police team and Walsall Council, to make sure everything runs smoothly.”
Bringing this project to fruition delivers on one of the promises that Friendship made to Beechdale when they joined forces in April 2011.
