Community Gateway Association (CGA) recently held a Diversity Event at Preston North End Football Club. The event saw the launch of CGA’s Equality and Diversity Annual Report 2012 and it was also an opportunity for stakeholders and agencies to network.
The E&D report was very well received by eveyone who attended being described as “Excellent", "Colourful and very informative" and "It was really nice to see the community involved in the writing of the report”
With three guest speakers and a range of stalls for people to look around, the attendees heard from people across Preston and Lancashire who are supporting residents and communities, the speakers included:-
• Jackie Bird from CGA's Welfare Benefits team, gave a brilliant and thought provoking presentation on the impending welfare reform changes.
• Drew Drake from Age Concern (Central Lancashire) gave an insight into the difficulties faced by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered community.
• Ian Mackie from the Ingol and Tanterton Community Trust (INTACT) presented “The Challenges of Engaging under 16’s” and how INTACT working in partnership with CGA to support a local group of young people in the local area who are putting forward their ideas for the future of the community.
Kerry Wallace Head of Human Resources at CGA commenting said, “I would like to thank everyone who attended our diversity event. Our speakers did a brilliant job in highlighting the difficulties faced by residents across the city. By bringing people together to discuss and learn from each other we can all do our part to tackle these issues."
