Village children are celebrating a double dose of joy thanks to a Merlin residents group.

Filton & District Community Action Group has given more than £3,000 to two organisations in Oldbury-on-Severn. The group has given £370 to Oldbury-on-Severn Primary School for three trikes for its reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils to use. It’s also contributed £2,800 towards a project to resurface the Memorial Hall for the Busy Bees Playgroup and all the other community groups that use the hall.

And members from the CAG recently visited both the school and the playgroup to see the difference their funding has made to the children.

CAG chairman Pete Edwards said: “These were two important groups to support and it was great to go and see what a difference our money has made. I love the look on people’s faces, especially on the children’s when they saw the trikes. It was really good and we really enjoyed seeing them all.”

Community Investment Officer Louisa Massey said: “Rural communities and children and young people communities are two of the six priority areas being focused on with our community investment work. Oldbury-on-Severn is one of the most remote rural communities in South Gloucestershire so it was great the CAG was able to help not one but two groups in the village.”
