The Wrekin Housing Group, which already includes two housing organisations, The Wrekin Housing Trust and Choices Housing Association, is to be further enhanced by a third partnership arrangement with Shropshire Housing Alliance (SHA).
An event was held at The Wrekin Housing Trust’s offices today to welcome the new partner and celebrate the success of the existing partnership with Choices.
With offices in Shrewsbury and Market Drayton, SHA is an organisation that provides mediation housing support and advice services, to help those in need or in danger of losing their home to access services and agencies relevant to their particular circumstances.
SHA also runs various furniture schemes including the innovative ‘Reviive’ in Shrewsbury, London and online. The new partnership has already started work on bringing a new Reviive store to Telford, helping more people to furnish their homes in a cost effective way while also reducing waste by bringing back into use good quality furniture.
SHA joins an already strong and successful partnership between The Wrekin Housing Trust and Choices Housing Association, who are already working on a number of joint projects. These include a 16 bed ‘hotel’ offering care and respite facilities in Bucknall, Stoke-On-Trent. Plans have also been submitted for a brand new development at Stone Road in Stafford, to include extra care and dementia schemes and provision for adults with learning difficulties.
The Wrekin Housing Group can now enhance its ‘offer’ to existing and future customers in Shropshire and Staffordshire. Alongside this the Group partners will benefit from sharing each other’s services and skills and, through the strength of the partnership, maximise its potential to explore new opportunities to access more funding for development and other initiatives to respond to customers’ needs.
Anne Ward, Chair of The Wrekin Housing Group, said: “I am delighted that Shropshire Housing Alliance has decided to join the Group partnership. Its excellent range of support services, together with the specialist care work of Choices and the comprehensive services provided by The Wrekin Housing Trust has created a unique business model with a multiplicity of skills that puts us in a strong position to achieve our objective to help more people in the existing and new areas where we work.”
James Wood, Chair of SHA also said: “We’re thrilled to be able to announce this new partnership with The Wrekin Housing Group. We know that this is going to be a great partnership and that it will enable us to expand our services and help more of those in need.”
