A Sheffield social housing tenant has been evicted after her partner was jailed for cannabis offences.

Charlotte Kartawick's home was raided by police in June 2011. Cannabis and items associated with drug dealing were discovered and Miss Kartawick's partner, Stevie Bingham, was arrested.

Miss Kartawick was evicted from her home at Plowright Way, Gleadless by Sheffield City Council's ALMO, Sheffield Homes, on the grounds that she is responsible for the actions of her guests under the terms of her tenancy agreement. She has also been ordered to pay the council's legal fees of £3939.90.

Mr Bingham was sentenced to eight months in jail at Sheffield Crown Court on 7 November for possession with intent to supply cannabis. Miss Kartawick was not charged with any offences relating to the drug bust.

Councillor Harry Harpham, Cabinet Member for Homes and Neighbourhoods, said: “It is completely unacceptable for any tenant to behave this way in a council property. This tenant must take responsibility for her partner’s actions. As Miss Kartawick chose to ignore the terms of her tenancy agreement she now pays the ultimate price by losing her home."
