Proposals for the renewal of Dines Green, Worcester
Worcester City Council’s council's planning committee has consent for a major renewal scheme at the heart of the Dines Green estate.
Developed by Worcester Community Housing, the £8.5 million scheme is set to to be the one of the biggest housing-led regeneration projects the area has seen – with 51 new homes homes, 5 new shop units, a new church and a new youth centre.
Chief Executive at WCH Stewart Mountfield said: “We’re delighted to have secured planning permission for such a major project. Bringing this scheme to fruition has taken many years of hard work by ourselves and our partners. The support we have received from our customers, the City Council and the wider community in Dines Green has been overwhelming and our thanks go to all concerned.
“This development brings our new investment proposals in the City Of Worcester to almost £15 million in the last twelve months. This is on top of an additional £24 million over the last 4 years that has delivered 206 new affordable homes. It is all part of our commitment to invest locally and make a sustainable and positive difference to the lives of our customers and the communities they live in.”
“We’re now looking forward to starting on site in early 2013 and creating a new neighbourhood centre that everyone can be proud of.”
The transformation will be complete by March 2015.
