Shoreline employees celebrate raising £50,000 for charity
Shoreline employees have exceeded fundraising expectations, donating over £50,000 for a range of good causes in just a few years.
The relatively small group of employees at the North East Lincolnshire social landlord have year-on-year raised much needed funds for their local charity of the year including:
- Crossroads, caring for carers - £1325.00
- St Andrews Children’s Hospice - £6049.50
- Pink Rose Suite at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital - £8782.32
- Bottoms Up and Friendship at Home - £3765.00 each
- Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance - £5833.67
- Women’s Aid - £5325.97
- FLAG – Family Links Around Grimsby - £5821.43
From fish and chip suppers to annual balls; treasure hunts to prize-winning Santa hats; book exchanges to namecards and raffles; race nights to auctions - a range of social activities have helped raise a staggering amount of money.
Willing volunteers have also taken part in local charity events including It’s a Knockout, St Andrews Sleepwalk, the Grimsby Dock Tower abseil and the area's biggest ever fundraiser, the Cleethorpes Smileathon.
The organisation even stepped in with just a day to go to host Sleep Easy 2012 at its headquarters with the individual Shoreline team bedding down in temperatures of -7 to raise over £3,000.
One-off campaigns have boosted the local Gadsby Soup Kitchen, the Shoebox Appeal and Wish Upon a Star.
Always ones for a dress up, employees have donned a multitude of costumes to mark national fundraisers including Red Nose Day, Wear it Pink Breast Cancer Campaign and Children In Need. And baked cakes for MS Society and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Shoreline employee and local fundraiser Ann Maggs MBE said “The Shoreline events group keep coming up with new fundraising ideas that really capture the imagination of our generous employees.
“As the area’s biggest social housing provider, we are an integral part of the local community and we’re proud that we carry that ethos into our social activities, making a huge difference to predominantly local charities that provide such amazing services to the people of North East Lincolnshire.
“We’re pleased and astonished by what we have achieved so far, it’s with massive thanks to our employees, families, friends and partner organisations.”
The team fundraising plans continue apace with Humberston Hydrotherapy Pool announced as charity of the year 2012/13, Movember celebrations in the pipeline and preparations for the annual Shoreline Ball.
