More than 250 people turned out to don their walking boots and help raise money for a charity which helps vulnerable people across the Midlands to lead independent lives.
Trident Reach the People Charity held its second annual walkathon, called Reach in the Park, in Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, Sunday 14th October.
People from across the region traveled to the park to walk either a 5k or 10k route after collecting sponsorship from family and friends.
Live entertainment was provided from the park’s bandstand and hot food and drinks were available to help walkers to refuel after completing the route.
Trident Reach provides help, support and housing to people with learning disabilities, those fleeing domestic violence, sufferers of mental health problems, refugees and the homeless. The money raised by this year’s event will be ploughed into its services, benefitting people across the community.
Anthony McCool, charity lead at Trident Reach said: “Reach in the Park is an opportunity for us to come together as a charity and celebrate the close, family-like relationship we have with our customers and staff, while raising vital funds for our services at the same time.
“It is a challenging time financially for the sector and it’s wonderful to see members of the community recognising that they can really make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people in our community by offering their support.
“I was proud to see so many people turn out for this year’s event which was a massive success and is becoming a focal point of our fundraising calendar. We’re already looking forward to getting everyone back together next year!”
