Stockport Homes is running an awareness month from 22 October to 23 November 2012 to help customers find out more about the Government’s changes to benefits and how they may be affected.

There are two particular changes that are expected to have a major impact:

-          Around 1,500 Stockport Council and Stockport Homes tenants, who are deemed by the Government to have at least one ‘spare’ bedroom, will have their Housing Benefit reduced from 1April 2013.

-          As part of the introduction of Universal Credit, with effect from 1 October 2013 tenants who currently get their rent paid directly to Stockport Homes in Housing Benefit will get this paid directly to them.

Stockport Homes is supporting its customers to deal with the changes, and during the awareness month events will be taking place across the Borough. A full list of all the events is available at www.stockporthomes.org/WRmonth Stockport Homes will also be posting advice and information on Facebook (/StockportHomes) and Twitter (@StockportHomes).

For more information on each event and to arrange attendance, please visit www.stockporthomes.org/WRmonth or call 0161 474 2854.
