Prisk to address housing sector at campaign launch
New housing minister Mark Prisk will address the whole housing sector for the first time this evening at an event marking the launch of a new campaign which will call on the Conservatives to turn the UK's housing crisis into a catalyst.
Homes for Britain – a 40-strong coalition of house builders, housing associations, architects, housing professionals, homelessness campaigners and private landlords – will tell the party that housing is vital to both economic growth and strong communities.
Mr Prisk will address the sector, alongside CBI Director General John Cridland and LGA Conservative Group Leader Cllr Gary Porter, at the flagship Homes for Britain event at the Conservative Party conference.
Led by the National Housing Federation, Chartered Institute of Housing, Crisis, Home Builders Federation, Residential Landlords Association and RIBA, the group says that investment in housing will bring significant economic and social rewards to the country.
Homes for Britain says that every pound invested in housing generates three pounds in the wider economy – and with 90% of building materials made in the UK, the impact will be felt immediately. A decent home is also a fundamental building block to leading a healthy, independent and dignified life, helping people achieve their aspirations.
