Wales & West Housing has been ranked as one of the top 30 employers in the UK for working families for the second year running.
WWH was one of only two Welsh organisations to rank within the Top 30 UK employers rated by Working Families, a charity which campaigns for better work-life balance. The other Welsh organisation to make the Top 30 is the National Assembly for Wales, rubbing shoulders with blue chip companies from across the UK including Citi, Allianz Insurance and BT.
Wales & West Housing, which provides affordable homes for 17,000 people across 13 local authority areas in Wales, also won the Working Families award for Best Career Progression for Flexible Workers, at a red carpet ceremony in the Hilton Hotel, London, last Tuesday.
Anne Hinchey, Chief Executive of WWH, said, “We are honoured to have been ranked in the Top 30 companies in the UK by Working Families for the second year running, and are also delighted to have won the award for Best Career Progression for Flexible Workers.
“Not only does this give us recognition for our efforts but enables us to share what we do and to learn from leaders in many other sectors.
“Flexible working has been a cornerstone of our approach to staffing for several years and everybody, including our residents, benefit from it.”
Sarah Jackson, CEO of Working Families, said: “Wales & West Housing show a commitment throughout the business to staff development and training, regardless of role or working pattern, which means that no-one loses an opportunity to progress because they need to combine work and family life.
“There’s a solid top-down commitment, matched by a financial one, which aims to develop individuals and thereby enhance organisational performance.”
WWH was also a finalist in three other categories:
- Best for Engagement Award
- The National Grid Best for Innovation Award
- Best for Carers and Eldercare
