Tenant who threatened housing officer jailed
A former tenant of Gloucester City Homes (GCH) has been jailed after breaching an ASB injunction.
Sharon Townsend, who was evicted in August for anti-social behaviour, made threats to harm the GCH officer who led her possession on 13 September.
Townsend committed various offences the following day at Gloucester Docks, including swearing, shouting and making threats towards the public and the police.
Gloucester City Court heard that Townsend breached her injunction five times over two days. She denied the allegations, claiming that she was an alcoholic with no memory of the incidents.
GCH ASB Manager Sara Taylor commented: “Throughout our involvement in this case, we have tried to support Miss Townsend in seeking self help with her alcohol addiction, without success. The victims in this case should not be continually subjected to such distress. We will continue to work with our partners to protect those affected under the terms of the injunction and beyond if necessary whilst encouraging Miss Townsend to seek the support to change her behaviour permanently.”
Chief Inspector Neil Smith of Gloucestershire Constabulary said: “This shows that the effective partnership work that we have in Gloucester works. We will not tolerate outrageous behaviour from individuals and they will face the full force of the Justice System.”
