FIRST-TIME buyers are showing keen interest in a Black Country housing development where they can seal the deal on a new home for as little as £30,000.
Two-thirds of the houses at Regis Heights, Rowley Regis, have already been spoken for, with at least one reservation confirmed, leaving just four up for sale through HomeBuy shared ownership.
That's why Alan Bradley, Head of Sales at affordable housing specialist Bromford Homes, urges would-be buyers to be quick − or risk missing out on what he describes as a great opportunity to get on to the local property ladder.
"Construction work has got to that really exciting stage. The builders are making great progress and we look forward to seeing the first completions very soon," said Alan, pointing to the hive of on-site activity off Carnegie Road, Rowley Regis, near West Bromwich.
"Our first buyers should be able to move in well before Christmas and I would urge anyone who's interested to avoid delay or they risk being disappointed.
"This really is a great opportunity for first-time buyers to get on the local property ladder.
"They're great homes at great prices and, with shared ownership, you can become a proud property owner for as little as £30,000. That's enough to buy a 25% share of a two-bed semi-detached home.
"One thing that concerns a lot of first-time buyers across central England is the amount of deposit they have to save for a traditional outright sale − even if they could in theory afford the mortgage payments.
"With shared ownership, the deposit here at Regis Heights would be as little as £1,500. That makes buying really affordable for anyone who struggles to save but can still afford to buy."
Of the 13 homes offered for shared ownership, just three two-beds and a single three-bed house remain unsold.
All homes come with a complete fitted kitchen, including oven, hob and extractor, french doors leading to the rear garden, full gas-fired central heating, double glazing and high-performance insulation throughout. Front and rear gardens are turfed, there are allocated parking spaces and the homes come with a 10-year NHBC new home warranty.
The development features plenty of open space, including a play area for children, and Alan describes it as family-friendly.
He's equally enthusiastic about the commuter-friendly location. It's a short walk from the lively Rowley Regis town centre and only two miles from junction two of the M5 − and from there the rest of the West Midlands motorway network.
