To mark the opening of the borough’s latest affordable development, Archway Heights, The Mayor of Islington, Councillor Jilani Chowdhury, took a snapshot of the highly photogenic vista over the London cityscape, from the 8th floor of the striking new building.  The new development, of 18 intermediate rent and 9 affordable rent apartments by housing association Origin Housing, was officially opened by The Mayor on Thursday 13th September 2012.

Before declaring the development officially open, The Mayor commented, “It is great to see that Origin are working so closely with the London Borough of Islington to provide much needed affordable housing.  I was pleased to hear that Origin intend to get so involved in the local community too. “

Other guests at the reception included The Leader of the London Borough of Islington Council, Councillor Catherine West.  Councillor West commented, “Such a high proportion of the enquires we receive relate to housing, so it is great to see a well-designed affordable development such as this one being built.  The previous building here had attracted some negative attention, so there has been much interest in this site from the local community, and it’s a great pleasure to see the final result.”

After presentations from Origin Housing, guests were given the opportunity to see the attractive 2 bedroom apartments within the building.

Clad in an aluminium rain screen finish, Origin Housing’s Archway Heights offers a selection of affordable 2 bedroom apartments, many of which will have panoramic views across the London cityscape.  The distinctive 8 storey tower has been designed by cutting edge architects Spacelab, and is due for completion in Autumn 2012.  Intermediate rents at Archway Heights start from £1008 PCM.  This is an intermediate rent scheme allows tenants to rent a new home for  80 percent of market rent, encouraging potential first time buyers to save in order to purchase their first home.   Eligibility criteria applies.  For further information about Archway Heights, applicants should contact Origin Housing on  0800 068 8990 / www.originsales.co.uk
