Earlier this week, Equity Housing Group welcomed a new apprentice.

Tom Flanagan, aged 18, has joined the Group on a two year programme leading to a Level 2 Accounting Apprenticeship. At a time when employment opportunities are few and far between, his appointment is great news. Tom will have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience by working alongside an expert team within a leading housing association. As part of his apprenticeship, he will also attend Stockport College on day release.

Tom joins Equity straight from completing his ‘A’ levels at college and said: “I am delighted to be joining Equity. This apprenticeship will give me the best possible start to my career and I’m really looking forward to working with the team.”

His appointment is not the only good news coming from Equity in terms of its support for those looking for employment. The Group is about to launch it’s new Community Foundation. Through the foundation, Equity will commit £100,000 each year to create job and training opportunities for those looking for work. The money will also be used to help and encourage people to improve their health.

Chief Executive David Fisher said: “Equity Housing Group is all about improving peoples lives and our new foundation further demonstrates our commitment. By supporting people and investing in projects to tackle worklessness and promote better health, the foundation will help Equity to make a real difference to lives and communities”.
