New ITV drama Homefront, a series chronicling the lives of girlfriends and wives of soldiers serving in Afghanistan, is set to light up TV screens on Thursday.

Filmed in homes owned by Halton Housing Trust on Avondale Close in Widnes, the first episode of the six part series airs on ITV1 at 9pm.

Scenes shot in Avondale Close will feature heavily throughout the new six-part series that stars TV heavyweights Claire Skinner, Greg Wise, Clare Higgins, George Costigan, Nicola Stephenson, Antonia Thomas and Warren Brown.

As well as putting Avondale Close on the map, the filming has also raised £2045 for Halton Haven Hospice after ITV contributed £200 per every day of filming to the Trust’s nominated charity.

Anna Lambert, Communications Manager at the Trust, said: “I’d like to thank all the residents of Avondale Close – they really welcomed the ITV crew to the street and into their homes. All the staff at the Trust are really looking forward to watching the new series.”
