mhs homes’ Operations Director Caroline Proverbs is leaving her role to take a three-year round-the-world adventure.Caroline and partner Michael plan to spend their first year in South Asia, where they will carry out voluntary work, before heading on to Africa and South America
It will be the second trip around the globe for Caroline and Michael after the couple spent 18 months in 2007 travelling and working for charities in eastern South Africa, India, China, New Zealand and Central America.
Caroline said: “The part of the first leg I am most looking forward to is spending one month living in a rural community in Rajasthan where we will be working with children and the community to produce a photo book that will record their stories and experiences and we will be teaching the kids photography.
"We also plan to visit as many of the festivals as possible and relying on buses and trains so planning the travel logistics has been quite a challenge.
"Our previous experience has taught us that wherever you go in the world most people you meet are kind, interesting and willing to help.
“We are looking forward to some great and unique experiences and will share them in an online blog.”
mhs homes’ Chief Executive Ashley Hook said: “Caroline has made a fantastic contribution over the last three years to mhs homes. Her achievements include delivering our largest ever development programme; setting up our registered subsidiary, Heart of Medway Housing Association and a number of stock acquisitions. She has also been instrumental in increasing customer involvement which included setting up the Customer Scrutiny Panel.
“Caroline’s resourcefulness and personable nature has earned her great respect amongst her colleagues and she will be greatly missed.”
