A group of housing professionals from Hanover Housing Association held a team building day with a difference when they went head to head in an apprentice style showdown at retirement housing estates in Bicester and Stokenchurch on Thursday 21 August.
Inspired by the BBC show, the group split into teams- team ‘Fusion’ and ‘Velocity’. The task was to carry out a task or event to enhance resident’s experience with Hanover.
Both teams raised their own funds for the project through staff donations and supplier discounts.
Team Velocity used donations from staff and members of the local community to bring life to a residents’ communal garden at Hanover Gardens in Bicester by transforming unkempt areas into a low maintenance beautiful space which all residents can enjoy.
At Old school house, Stokenchurch in Buckinghamshire, ‘Fusion’ negotiated the supply of free paint from manufacturer ICI and local contractor Mitie went on site to prepare the walls so that the team could redecorate the residents’ lounge.
Matthew Peak Finance Manager Hanover, said; “ It was a fantastic effort from both teams and in all honestly it’s tough to pick the winner . If pressed I would have to say the winners were the residents.”
After the tasks both teams joined residents afternoon tea where they compared notes after the day’s proceedings
