Jobseekers in North Bransholme can find out more about employment and training opportunities at a jobs fair at the community centre on Thursday 13 September.

The event has been organised by Riverside in partnership with Job Centre Plus and Hull Training.

Kerry Glaister, Riverside’s Employment & Training Project Officer, said: “The last event we held in March proved to be a huge success with 15 people going on to secure jobs as a direct result.

“In total, we have created over 100 job opportunities since we started managing the estate. While many of these have been with our contractors, this event focuses on jobs outside of the building industry.

“Our kitchen and bathroom contractor Kier and our development contractor Mansell will be attending to recruit for apprenticeships. However, there will also be a number of retailers attending including Asda, Poundstretcher and Oyster Catcher, who are keen to recruit new staff for Christmas.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re young or old, fresh out of school or have a wealth of experience, we are here to point you in the right direction. All advice is free, impartial and confidential.”

Information and support will be available from Jobcentre Plus, Hull Training, Hull Adult Education, Hull CVS, Future Focus, Latitude and Lemon Tree.

As well as being able to find out about apprenticeships and adult education training courses, visitors can learn about work experience placements and volunteering opportunities. There will also be an online application surgery and support on writing CVs.

The event is being held on Thursday 13 September from 10.30am to 2pm at North Bransholme Community Centre, Lothian Way, HU7 5DD.

Everyone attending will be entered into a £50 raffle for High Street Vouchers.
