Two customers of Kent-based housing association mhs homes have been elected onto the mhs homes group board by their fellow tenants.

Janet MacGregor, a mum-of-two, of Ealing Close, Chatham was voted on to board for the first time, joining Pat Austin, of Lambeth Close, Chatham who was re-elected for her 7th term.

The role involves representing over 8,000 customers living in the properties owned by the landlord in the Medway area. Tenant board members attend board meetings and monitor performance and strategy.

Janet, 51, a carer, who has been an mhs homes customer for 29 years, said she was looking forward to the role and hoped to encourage other tenants to get involved with neighbourhood initiatives.
She said: "I am really looking forward to the next year.
"I have found everybody at the mhs homes office really friendly and helpful. Everyone seems keen to get residents to take part in community activities. I hope I can play a part in that."

Pat Austin, who retired as an mhs homes sheltered scheme manager in 2006 after 20 years, has been a customer for 20 years and has served on the Customer Scrutiny Panel, the group which monitors and challenges how the organisation carries out its work.

Pat said she was delighted to be re-elected. She said: "I’m very grateful for everyone’s support. I’m looking forward to representing the tenants of mhs homes again. There are lots of opportunities for residents to get involved in helping mhs homes improve its services, whether it’s the Customer Scrutiny Panel, other forums or mystery shopping. I have always enjoyed my involvement and would urge others to take part too."
