Barton Village residents celebrate at their Olympic Games Night
RESIDENTS at Barton Village in Eccles are taking inspiration from the Olympics to host their own series of gaming challenges throughout August.
Darts, paper planes, tiddly winks and Wii Sports are all on the agenda to bring the community together to test their sporting abilities.
The events are organised by the Engels Tenants’ and Residents’ Association and the Barton Village Ladies Young At Heart group. Together they were successful in gaining funding from the Eccles Local Area Panel Project Fund to host the events over four weeks.
The events also include a raffle which will raise funds to pay for the Barton Village Community Centre’s TV license next year.
So far the events have been a great success with fun being had on Wednesday 8 August and Wednesday 15 August (pictured) and further events set to take place on Wednesday 22nd August and Wednesday 29August at the Barton Village Community Centre.
Dorothy Parr, who set up the Barton Village Ladies group, said: “It’s great to see everyone getting involved and enjoying the games nights. It’s thanks to City West’s Local Area Panel we can fund great activities like this. If you live in Barton Village why not pop down and join in the Olympic fun at one of the events in the next couple of weeks?”
If you would like to get involved or would like more information you can contact City West’s Community Development Officer, Carol Baguley, on 0161 605 7647 or email involved@citywest.org.uk.
