Acis event brings community together

Lincolnshire based housing association Acis Group is organising a fun-packed event with the aim of building relationships between tenants and local residents.

Acis is holding a family fun day in the town of Gainsborough, an area where it has its largest tenant population, on Saturday 18 August and hopes to bring together people from all parts of the community.

Acis, who own and manage a total of over 5,300 properties across Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, are holding the event at their own Park Springs Community Centre and are inviting all residents of the town to come along.

A number of Acis tenants and local residents have been involved with the event planning, giving the fun day a real community feel and bringing both Acis and non Acis residents together in the organisation of the day.

Lucy Picksley, Resident Involvement Officer for Acis, explains: “The support we have received in the run-up to the fun day from people within the town has been fantastic. The backing from local businesses has also been great. Without their help we would not have been able to put on such a fantastic range of activities.”

The fun day is open to everyone and promises to be a great day out for all the family, as well as being a great opportunity to find out more about Acis and other local organisations. A whole host of activities will be on offer including the opportunity to 'meet a creature' and handle snakes and bearded dragons. Other activities include face painting, bouncy castle, bungee run, have a go on a go-kart, name the teddy, guess the weight of the cake and a free prize draw, along with refreshments and cakes for sale made by an array of local volunteers.

Lucy added: “The family fun day will be a community event with entertainment and activities for both children and adults. We have lots of local organisations involved that are coming along with stands and activities to let the community of Gainsborough know what a wealth of provision there is available in and around the town. The day is set to be charged with an array of activity, both inside and outside, with a variety of games and rides for all to enjoy.”
