For the second year running, Bootle’s North Park attracted over 6000 people when One Vision Housing hosted BooFest – their free, family friendly festival.

The event featured live PA from Juice FM, a free fun fair and a celebrity appearance from Jodie Lundstram (Desperate Scousewives) who gave master classes in beauty and makeup – including her trademark ‘scouse brow’.

She said: “It was lovely to see so many people of all ages getting involved and mixing with each other. It was a fantastic day and great to speak to so many local people.”

With Britain’s weather more unpredictable than ever, it was feared that the July showers would continue. However, as the temperature pushed a creditable 20 degrees, children were able to play on a makeshift beach and play football with representatives from Everton Football Club while parents relaxed in deck chairs.

One Vision Housing resident Barbara Gower (pictured) said: “I felt like a million dollars after my make over. I’ve been in bad health recently so something like this has actually made a huge difference to my confidence. I’m made up!”

As well as the host of fun things going on, there were staff from One Vision Housing and other partners providing advice and support about people’s homes and neighbourhoods.

One Vision Housing Chief Executive Roy Williams said: “The response we’ve had from people today has been absolutely fantastic. People have enjoyed all the activities around the park and our staff have all taken away thoughts and ideas which we’ll use to improve our services further.” 

It was announced this week that last year’s BooFest is up for a national award in the prestigious Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Awards for ‘Best Event.’
