A footballer from Halton Housing Trust has fulfilled his dreams by playing in the Europa Cup in Finland.

Despite losing to Finnish team MyPa 47, Kieran Quinns’ team, Cefn Druids, were thrilled to make it through to the prestigious championship.

Kieran, who lives Liverpool, said: “It’s the first time that my club have made it through to the Europa Cup. It was a brilliant experience and amazing playing with the lads in Finland - it’s something to tell the grandchildren.”

His team drew 0/0 at home, but unfortunately lost out to the Finnish team by 5/0 in the second leg.

Kieran plays centre midfield for Welsh team, Cefn Druids, the oldest football club in Wales, training twice a week and playing a match every Saturday. As well as being a talented footballer, Kieran works full time as an Assistant Site Manager at Halton Housing Trust’s Foundry Lane offices in Widnes.

Playing against a full-time professional team was a fantastic experience for Kieran. He said: “MyPa 47 have played in the Europa Cup 17 out of 19 times, so they were experienced with the tournament. As it was our first time playing in the Europa Cup, we did amazingly well and I hope we get the chance again.”
