A North East housing association is calling on community groups and schools to apply for funding towards projects that will benefit the local community.
Chester-le-Street based social landlord, Cestria Community Housing has announced a £15,000 community fund, which is available for groups and projects that will benefit people living in the local area.
The money has been allocated from efficiency savings that the organisation has made in the last financial year. As a not-for-profit organisation, any surplus is re-invested back into projects that will benefit the communities it serves.
The fund is accessible to anybody, not just tenants of Cestria Community Housing and the Association is encouraging non-tenants, community groups and schools to apply for funding towards their projects.
Cestria’s Head of Finance, Julie Clarke said: “This fund has been set up to support local events and activities. One of our local offers to the community is that we will re-invest value for money efficiency savings made by supporting projects that will benefit our communities.
“We welcome anyone who has an idea for a project to apply for money through the fund and we look forward to supporting as many people and groups as possible.”
To apply for the Community Fund, applications must be submitted on the Cestria Community Housing website at www.cestria.org or call 0191 385 1400 for an application form. The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 10th 2012 and all projects will be shortlisted by a panel of tenants from Cestria Community Housing. All shortlisted projects will then be subject to a vote at the Associations next Annual Tenants’ conference on 15th August.
