101 new homes for affordable rent completed
Golding Homes has completed 131 new homes in Maidstone - a 101 of which are for affordable rent.
The housing association - which manages over 6,100 properties - has worked closely with Maidstone Borough Council on the £12.8 million project to offer the new homes for affordable rent to home-seeking families who meet a criteria set out for the development.
The remaining 30 homes are available for sale, shared ownership and private rental.
Work on the former car park and council depot site began in June 2011. The homes were built using a pre-fabricated system of panels (i-SIPs) which were prepared off-site. The panels offer a high level of energy efficiency.
Golding Homes’ Director of Development and Regeneration, Chris Blundell, said: “We are pleased to see residents moving into these much-needed new homes. We have taken great care in the design and construction of these homes and look forward to seeing a thriving community developing here”.
The new homes are funded by £5.5m grant from the Homes and Communities Agency.
