Residents at the Source Development Partnership conference in Dorchester
Residents are the driving force behind change at the Source Development Partnership and they expressed their views at a conference held in Dorchester on 6th July. This annual event is held to give residents a direct say over the range of design standards and development processes within the Source development partnership.
Andrew Lawrie, Regional Development Manager at Spectrum Housing Group - a Source Development partner, said: “Yet again it was an intense and fulfilling day where residents got stuck in and challenged the way we do things. This will lead to improvement in future developments.”
26 residents from the South West got to grips with why the development process can have a major impact on their satisfaction with a completed scheme. They were also briefed on the post-completion survey results from 2011/12 which highlighted differences between the various Source members using the same design brief.
Mary Miller, a former senior manager of a national private house builder, described how poor customer feedback and lost income drove improvements to process which greatly reduced defects and customer complaints and improved staff morale and profits.
Residents were then invited to suggest improvements which will feed into future ways that Source members will undertake development.
The Source Development Partners are: Spectrum Housing Group,Coastline Housing, Bournemouth Churches Housing Association, Magna Housing Group, Broadway Park Housing Association and Vectis Housing.
