TrustCall, the 24-hour monitoring and response service from Trafford Housing Trust, has this week celebrated its first anniversary.

Each TrustCall home is fitted with an emergency alarm which can be activated at the touch of a button. These alarms are linked to the Trust’s control centre where a team of fully trained operatives respond to any calls, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and arrange a visit from a support officer if necessary.

The service was set up by the Trust in order to offer older and more vulnerable people the option to remain independent by living at home but with an added sense of security and safety.

Fran Gudger, TrustCall Manager, said: “TrustCall has allowed many people to remain independent but have the peace of mind that someone is there for you. If there is an emergency situation, our team is always on hand to respond to call-outs, and we’ve made over 1,200 visits in our first year, including eight on Christmas Day.”

TrustCall has completed a Telecare Services Accreditation which includes reaching 90% of emergency calls within 45 minutes and fitting all urgent alarm referrals within five days.

However, TrustCall has actually exceeded these targets when handling over 128,000 alarm calls since 4th July 2011.  The team has responded to over 90% of calls within 20 minutes and fitted 100% of emergency referrals within just two days. 

Fran continued: “We are extremely proud of the figures we have reached in our first year and to have actually exceeded the targets that have been set is a fantastic achievement.  We are fully committed to enriching the lives of our elderly and vulnerable tenants and I would like to thank everyone on our team for the time and dedication they have put in over this first year.”

Not only has TrustCall benefitted their customers but it has also created five new full-time jobs and now monitors the THT’s CCTV cameras, ensuring a more responsive service.

TrustCall operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week 52 weeks a year and also provides Trafford Housing Trust’s out-of-hours repairs service.
