The development of humidity controlled ventilation revolutionised extractor fans and is still well specified as it is responds to the need and does not rely on user intervention – but how efficient or effective are they? Innovative ventilation designers Greenwood Airvac believe they have made it SMARTer with the introduction of Greenwood HumidiSMART™ technology.

Following years of expertise in ventilation and research to fully understand the way in which humidity levels change through human activity,GreenwoodAirvac has developed revolutionary, patented sensor technology to ensure ventilation products are only ever activated when required.

Helping lower running costs, minimise nuisance noise and reduce carbon emissionsGreenwoodHumidiSMART™ technology works in contrast to traditional humidistat sensors by understanding the installed environment. Through continual monitoring of the humidity within the roomGreenwoodHumidiSMART™ sensors are able to determine the ‘normal’ ambient level on a given day and then work intuitively to only respond to man-made spikes, e.g. when someone is showering or cooking (rather than being pre-set to activate at a specific point).

Once activated Greewood HumidiSMART™ sensors continue to monitor the declining humidity level and once it falls below a calculated threshold, the fan will automatically return to trickle mode (continuous systems) or switch off (intermittent fans). This ensures the fan is only operational for the time necessary to return the room to normal and optimises energy efficiency.
