Councillor Marion Brighton OBE, alongside Acis Chairman Rod Must, declares the Minerva Way development by Acis officially open
Lincolnshire based housing association Acis Group officially opened their latest new homes development in the town of North Hykeham.
Acis, who own and manage over 5,300 homes across Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, declared their Minerva Way development officially open on 4 July in front of residents, local dignitaries, special guests, partners and employees. Guest of honour Councillor Marion Brighton OBE, Leader of North Kesteven District Council, was on hand to declare the new homes officially open and addressed the assembled gathering together with Acis Chairman Rod Must.
The scheme has created 32 much needed affordable homes. Acis worked with enabling partner North Kesteven District Council to deliver the project, which represents a total investment of £3.8 million and was part funded by a Homes and Communities Agency grant of £1.6 million. Acis appointed property developer Partner Construction to undertake the scheme’s build.
Rod Must, Chairman of Acis, said: “At Acis we pride ourselves in putting people first and providing better places for people to live. Minerva Way is another example of putting our priorities into practice and delivering what we say we will. It marks another milestone and proud moment for the company. This achievement is testament to the hard work and dedication of Acis staff, and the finished product is one which we are extremely happy with. It is also a great example of partnership working, as without our partners this would not have been possible and I’d like to thank them for their contributions. We have built some extremely positive relationships with other organisations and we now want to continue this with the new residents we have been delighted to welcome into our homes.”
The cul-de-sac development lies just off the A1434 Newark Road and is of mixed tenure featuring a mix of two, three and four bedroom houses, and two bedroom flats. These consist of 24 homes for rent and eight available as part of the Acis rent to buy scheme, where customers can try before they buy.
Councillor Marion Brighton, OBE, Leader of North Kesteven District Council: commented: “I am delighted that Acis has delivered such a good-looking development of such high-quality design and execution in North Kesteven; it’s fantastic. It’s clear that a lot of work has gone into this from the architects, through to planning officers, and then the builders. We must also thank the Homes and Communities Agency for their £1.6m grant which has enabled these homes to be brought forward to support the long waiting list of people wanting to lie in North Kesteven. People grumble about having affordable homes in their villages and neighbourhoods but I question why anyone wouldn’t want these in their communities as they are absolutely super.”
The event was rounded off with a celebratory reception.
