North-west housing group Regenda has scooped the Environmental Best Practice award at the Bolton and Bury Business Awards 2012.

The award recognises the substantial number of environmental projects and initiatives which Regenda’s Property Services team has introduced over the past 12 months.  These include the appointment of the Group’s first Environmental Officer, Sarah Thomas and an investment of over £3million to improve the energy efficiency of its housing stock.  This has included providing cavity wall and loft insulation for all suitable properties and replacing inefficient gas boilers with A-rated models, to make sure residents stay warm during cold weather and to help reduce their energy bills.

Chris Dale, Head of Property Services at Regenda said: “I’m absolutely amazed; it was a privilege to be nominated, so to win is the icing on the cake.  It’s great for our residents as it demonstrates to them that we are doing everything we can to care for them and the environment.  It also recognises the hard work of my team who have devoted so much time and energy to making these changes happen.”

The next phase of Regenda’s environmental strategy is already underway as staff are being encouraged to review and reduce their energy consumption and to take advantage of a library of energy monitors which they can use to monitor their usage.

This is the second environmental award for Regenda’s team in the past three months.  In March 2012 Regenda received a best practice award from the Sustainable Homes Index For Tomorrow (SHIFT) for its work on reducing its environmental impact.

The Regenda Group is a leading housing and regeneration organisation, with 13,000 properties across the North West providing homes for more than 25,000 people.
