Hereford nightmare neighbour evicted
A Hereford tenant has finally been evicted after a catalogue of anti-social behaviour.
The Marches Housing Association has obtained possession of the flat on Friar Street after a lengthy process.
The tenant’s neighbours suffered vomit, urine, dog mess, sexual activity in communal stairwells, loud parties, disturbances, intimidating groups of youths and major damage to their property.
Residents were required to keep a log sheet of incidents and report all unlawful behaviour to the police so that legal action could be taken.
A judge granted possession of the property on 7th June 2012, 12 months since the trouble started.
Housing Officer Caroline Light worked to bring order to the community by collating evidence, speaking to residents and the police and giving strong warnings to the perpetrator.
She said: “We are very grateful to the residents who were so brave; they were fearful of reprisal for providing evidence but without it we wouldn’t have been able to win the case and we are sorry it took so long to obtain this outcome.
“There were times when we thought this action would not be necessary as the perpetrator seemed to heed our warnings, but sadly it all escalated again early this year and we took the action to claim possession of the property”.
The Friars Street community have been informed of this positive action and all damage has been repaired as well as cleaning up the communal areas.
