Space Air - Winners at the National Heat Pump Awards!

We are delighted to announce that both our entries, Swan and Gilda House and Gulliver House won awards at the National Heat Pump Awards on 31^st May 2012, for their intelligent application and technical input.

Swan and Gilda House was Highly Commended for Installation of the year for Domestic Air Source Heat Pump, for Lee Housing Association’s apartments.

Space Air together with Ingleton Wood and contractor Climate Facilities Ltd, designed and supplied a bespoke solution to enable Lee Housing Association to replace the electric heating to 60 apartments with the energy efficient Daikin Altherma high temperature heat pumps, positioning all units outside due to lack of space internally.

Judges remarks; “This project stood out as an intelligent application of air to water heat pumps within a large residential project, highlighting what is possible even as a retrofit, within the social housing sector.”

Gulliver House was Highly Commended for Installation of the year for Commercial Air Source Heat Pump, for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award charity HQ. Space Air together with approved Space Air dealer ‘Air Improve’, replaced 18 existing R22 split air conditioning units with Daikin VRV systems, with integrated heat recovery ventilation and centralised controls. A Daikin Altherma air source heat pump was also installed to provide sanitary hot water and heating to stairwells.

Judges remarks; “A project which saw significant technical input provided by Space Air in the combination of heat recovery and heat pump technology to bring long term benefits to the customer.”

Lee Housing Association was looking for an efficient heating system, to replace the existing all electric system, where all of the components could be stored outside the apartments, due to space constraints.

Climate Facilities, a Space Air / Daikin approved dealer, installed the Complete Daikin Altherma HT System, a Space Air design which includes in-house designed and manufactured accessory components to complement the Daikin product range. The weather / vandal proofed enclosures contain a secondary DX cycle and heat exchanger to reach higher temperatures efficiently and Space Air supplied the prefabricated piping kits to optimise the energy efficiency of the system and watt meter’s to monitor the energy usage of the heat pump.
