Greggs presenting H3 with a cheque for £1,000
Greggs have presented the charity H3 (Helping the Homeless into Housing) with £1,000 to develop a healthy eating cook book containing tasty low cost recipes.
H3 were awarded the funding from the Greggs Foundation Regional Grants Programme, by Gavin St. John and Tina Ellison, Area and Branch Managers from Greggs.
The cook book, which is already in development, will include an exciting and delicious range of tasty recipes from various countries and cuisines. All recipes have been generously contributed to the book by homeless residents and staff at Stockport Homes’ temporary accommodation schemes with quick, easy and affordable recipes for people cooking on a budget.
Homeless residents in temporary accommodation will be offered a copy as well as the cook book being sold to raise funds for the charity which supports people who are homeless.
The charity is provided on a voluntary basis with 100% of the money raised going towards services for homeless people, such as:
- ‘move-on packs’ (including kettles, toasters, irons, cutlery, etc.) for residents moving into a new home;
- continuation of the FareShare Scheme which is already redistributing quality surplus food to people who are homeless and living in temporary accommodation; and
- developing opportunities for people to build confidence, gain skills and help themselves.
Gavin St. John, Area Manager, Greggs said, “We are proud to be able to make this contribution to support H3 and their good work which is a very worthwhile cause.”
Chrissie Ince, ex-homeless resident and now chair and trustee of the charity said, “Producing a homeless cook book has been something we have wanted to do for some time but until now we haven’t had the funding. H3 is very thankful to Greggs as we can now do this which will help educate people about cooking on a budget and raise funds that we can use to do even more to help people who are homeless in Stockport.”
