A GSCE student’s artistic vision of her grandparents became centre piece of an event for the residents of Hanover Court in Cinderford to celebrate their gold award as the ‘Best UK Housing with Care Estate’ today (20 June).

 

16 year-old Jessica Warren from Heywood School gave the residents a painting depicting memories of her grandparents.   After meeting the residents for the first time Jessica said: “I really enjoyed meeting the residents and I am very proud they will be displaying my artwork for all to see.   As an added bonus I had the chance to meet Ken Perkins a former headmaster at my school.”

Hanover Court was one of 10 winners nominated by more than 2,800 residents from across theUKin the Elderly Accommodation Council’s (EAC) national awards which have been running since 2010.

Rowena Hindle, Housing Manager, Hanover Housing Association, said: “We are very proud to have won the EAC Award.   Jessica’s artwork reflects the essence of the estate.  It is a fantastic place to live with a vibrant atmosphere.”
