Thursday 7 June saw the culmination of the Brinnington Young Photographers project, with the young people involved hosting an exhibition of their work at First House, Brinnington.
Stockport Homes worked in partnership with Stockport College, Services for Young People and the Brinnington Education Achievement Partnership to provide photography skills sessions with the Brinnington Youth Forum. The sessions aimed to encourage young people to think about their neighbourhood positively, using photography in new and exciting ways to capture the natural beauty of the area whilst developing an appreciation of the resources and facilities available to them and helping them to feel safer within their community.
The project was made possible by Brinnington Tenants’ and Residents’ Association (BTRA), who successfully secured funding from ‘You Say We Pay’ to enable the Young Photographers project to be delivered. During the exhibition, members of the BTRA presented the young people with a photo book and certificate to commemorate their achievements.
