The weather did not dampen spirits, as CGA celebrated with communities across Preston as part of the organisations sponsorship of one of the cities longest running cultural festivals, The Preston Caribbean Carnival.
The atmosphere was electric as large crowds lined the route to participate in the party and join in the fun. Avenham Park came to life in the evening with a live stage show with Caribbean beats to make the slightly soggy crowd boogie!
Through the organisations sponsorship fund, CGA also sponsored local dance troupe Spectrum Association who had a a familliar face in its ranks, Fonz Howard works for CGA as a Community Assistant, he has been part of the troupe for many years looked fantastic as a Mayan Lion.
Along with the sponsorship of Preston Mela at the end of June, the sponsorship of the carnival highlights CGA's commitment to developing neighbourhoods in Preston giving financial support to groups across the city who are struggling due to funding cuts.
Philip Duncan, Gateway Tenants' Committee Member who also participated in the carnival commented "It was a fantastic day again at the carnival this year, even though the weather was awful it was great to see so many people enjoying the festivities despite getting soaked. CGA's sponsorship is vital especially in these times of cutbacks and I am pleased that we have been able to support such a vibrant and well loved Preston event."
Dian Flannagan Chair of the Caribbean Carnival Committe said "On behalf of Preston Caribbean Carnival Executive Committee I would thank CGA and all of our sponsors, funders as well as all the other volunteers and committee members past and present who have helped to make our event the success it has become."
