Scores of whg colleagues have benefited from a health MOT and dental check-up courtesy of their employer.

whg, one of the borough’s biggest employers, invited NHS professionals into its offices to offer appointments as part of its aim to become a stronger, more efficient and productive business that is a great place to work.

The objective is one of five in whg’s corporate plan Altogether Better, which also includes creating great homes and neighbourhoods and delivering services that delight customers.

More than 100 colleagues took up the offer of a confidential appointment to check their height, weight, blood pressure, cholesterol level and calculate their body mass index (BMI). Others opened wide to have their gums and teeth scrutinised on board a mobile dental surgery.

Jane Preece, whg Director of Organisational Development, added: “We have a fantastic partnership with NHS Walsall and wanted to ensure our colleagues could benefit from the mobile service they provide.

“I’m pleased so many took up the opportunity to take five minutes to check their level of health.”

Barbara Fairclough, whg Resident Engagement Manager, was among those who volunteered for a health MOT. She said: “It was very useful and worthwhile. Good health is everything and it’s important to keep track of measures like blood pressure and BMI.”
