One Whitehall Place, London. 10:00 to 16:00, Monday 9th July 2012

There is only a month to go until the TCPA’s high profile summer conference taking place in London on the 9th July 2012!

The conference comes hot on the heels of our recently published report ‘creating garden cities and suburbs today’ and will build upon the Prime Minister’s support for garden cities; the clear recognition of the ‘principles of garden cities’ in the National Planning Policy Framework, and the inclusion of ‘locally-planned large scale development’ as a rung in the government's strategy for housing.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Lord Matthew Taylor of Goss Moor;
  • John Lewis, Chief Executive of Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation
  • Mary Parsons, Group Director, Business Development at Places for People;
  • John Walker, Former CEO Commission for New Towns and BURA;
  • Chris Tinker, Board Director & Regeneration Chairman, Crest Nicholson;
  • Patrick Clarke, Technical Director, Strategic Planning, URS;
  • Toby Lloyd, Head of Policy at Shelter.

The Minister for Housing, the Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP has also been invited.

 The conference will provide an understanding of why garden cities and suburbs provide some of the most desirable places to live in the UK today. It will enable delegates to gain an understanding of how Garden City principles can be part of the solution to the UK’s chronic housing crisis and provide a foundation for high quality inclusive places and the creation of new jobs and truly sustainable lifestyles.
