Hanover Scoops Top Prize at National Housing Awards

A Cinderford-based Extra Care housing estate has been voted the best in its category at a national award ceremony in London.
The 2012 National Housing for Older People Awards saw Hanover’s Extra Care housing estate ‘Hanover Court’ scoop a Gold award in the ‘Best UK Housing with Care category for under 30 units’.
The awards, run by the Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC) were launched in 2010 to recognise retirement housing estates which are the best in their field. Hanover Court was one of 10 winners nominated by more than 2,800 residents from across the UK.
The categories ranged from best housing with care by size through to best UK rural retirement housing scheme. Nominations for the awards were submitted by the residents through an innovative game of cards designed to stimulate discussions and capture satisfaction ratings on all aspects housing for later life.
Hanover resident, 99 year old Daisy Franks added: “I really enjoy living at Hanover Court. Since moving in I’ve made lots of friends. I’ve also had lots of fun taking part in resident activities, including extend exercises class mornings and reading group.
Hanover Housing Manager, Rowena Hindle (pictured left with east manager Helen Lee and Jeremy Porteus) said: “We are very proud to have won this award. There is never a dull moment at Hanover Court. It is a wonderful scheme with a vibrant atmosphere.
