New kitchens and bathrooms for tenants in Oswaldtwistle

Tenants at Merlin Court sheltered accommodation in Oswaldtwistle are enjoying new kitchens and bathrooms thanks to Hyndburn Homes and regeneration specialist Bramall Construction.

The nine-week contract saw tenants in the 32-unit scheme benefit from new kitchens, bathrooms and hot water cylinders.

Bramall Construction, part of Keepmoat, has also donated a television for the scheme’s communal room.

Tenant Vera Curwen, 66, who has lived at Merlin Court with her husband Brian, 70, for three years, is delighted with the improvement work.

Vera said: “We were able to choose the style of kitchen and how we wanted it laid out.

“We were going on holiday so, once everything was agreed, we simply handed over our keys and let them get on with it while we were away.

“When we got back, we opened the door and everything was ready for us. It was exactly what we wanted… and more.”

And tenant Jan Thompson added: “The whole workforce has done a brilliant job. They were all very considerate and nothing was too much trouble.

“Work was being carried out to the whole complex and there was little disruption or noise. Everyone got on and did what they had to do with consideration and consultation every step of the way.”

Bramall Construction’s Resident Liaison Officer, Sandra Marley, said: “It is always a key priority for us when we are working on tenants’ homes to ensure that we get the work done as quickly and efficiently as possible.”
