Accent Foundation has unveiled 19 new homes on Mitford Street, Filey (on the East Yorkshire coast), which have developed in partnership with Scarborough Council, and with the backing of Filey Town Council.
The new homes are a mixture of flats and houses. Six of the houses and all of the flats are for rent, and they will be offered to people in housing need on Scarborough Borough Council's housing register. Five of the homes are for sale as shared ownership to first time buyers from the local area.
The homes were completed in early April this month and were opened by Filey Town Mayor Councillor Richard Walker.
Accent has spent £2.1 million on the development. £0.8 million of this was funded by the Homes and Communities Agency, the government's national regeneration agency for England. The homes have taken just over a year to complete.
Speaking at the opening, Claire Stone, Accent Foundation's Managing Director, said: “I’m very pleased to see the completion and opening of our new apartments and houses on Old Crown Way. Throughout the planning and building work, we have worked closely with Scarborough Borough Council, Filey Town Council, our main contractors Strategic Team Group and the Homes and Communities Agency to make sure the homes were built to the best modern design standards, and meet the needs and aspirations of the local people who will be living in them."
