Helena Partnerships Hosts Northern Housing Consortium Workshop

Merseyside-based housing association Helena Partnerships has welcomed senior housing professionals to its head office for the first in a series of Northern Housing Consortium (NHC) workshops to address new regulatory standards.
Over 20 NHC members from councils and housing associations across the North gathered in Helena’s Your Space, a flexible community zone in the organisation’s new environmentally friendly head office, Helena Central.
The interactive workshop was organised by the NHC to support members through the revisions and new requirements to social housing regulatory standards which came into play this month, as regulatory powers were transferred from the Tenant Services Authority to the Homes & Communities Agency.
During the session, members shared current practice and discussed the roles of landlords and tenants in delivering the new standards. Gentoo and Wakefield and District Housing are set to host a further two workshops this summer.
Helena’s Chief Executive, Rob Young, is a long-standing NHC Board member. He said: “There’s no doubt that these are challenging times for social landlords, but by working together to tackle issues such as welfare reform and new regulatory standards we can build solid foundations for the future of our residents and organisations.”
Ian Wright, Head of Member Relations at the NHC, said: “It is very important that organisations understand their role in driving forward the new approach to regulation, which gives the sector the chance to show what it is capable of by delivering new and more effective services for less.
“We are confident the sessions will be of real value to all who attend.”
