Liverpool chief executive named one of 'Top 50 leaders in housing' in national poll
The Chief Executive of The SLH Group has made it into a national list of the top 50 most influential people in housing.
Julie Fadden was ranked 44th in a poll run by ‘24 housing’, one of the housing sectors leading magazines. The ‘Power Players 2012’ list is a comprehensive guide to the most influential people currently working in, or impacting on, the housing sector.
The list was compiled after the magazine polled 200 of the country’s most senior housing figures, including politicians and academics, and asked them to rank the people they considered to be most influential in the sector.
Julie Fadden is the only Merseyside housing chief executive who has made it on to the list and despite thousands of women holding senior management roles in the sector – only 11 have made it on to the list.
Julie has come a long way since she started out as a clerical assistant at Liverpool City Council in the 80’s and worked her way up to her current position of SLH’s chief executive in March 2005. Within months of arriving she turned the organisation around so that it became the fastest improving housing association in the country, receiving the highest possible score for its prospects for improvement by the Audit Commission.
John McHale, Chair of SLH’s Board said “Julie is an iconic and determined leader who is totally focussed on what is best for tenants and the community in which she serves. She has bred confidence amongst her colleagues by creating a ‘can do’ culture within the organisation and empowering people to believe that they are capable of achieving anything they want to. “
“Over the past 7 years she has taken tough but necessary decisions and has worked tirelessly to build an organisation which people are proud of. “
