Parkway Green is delighted to announce that work has now begun on 68 new homes in Newall Green.

The ‘New Foxfield’ site was officially opened by vice chair of the Parkway Green Board Wyn Casey, affordable housebuilder Lovell, Bernard Taylor Architects and Carl Moore from the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA).

There will be homes on the site for existing customers looking to downsize as well as family sized accommodation. Funding has been granted from the Government’s Affordable Housing Programme and will be delivered through the JV North Partnership.

Building will take roughly around a year on the site which was previously the location of Parkway Green’s defective system built homes that were demolished back in 2010.

Chief Executive of Parkway Green Nigel Wilson said, “We are delighted that building has now started on 68 new homes for the Trust, our biggest new build project to date. We want to leave a lasting legacy in our communities and this development will provide more affordable social housing in Wythenshawe and help improve the area”

Chair of the PGHT Board Cllr Tony Burns said, “This is fantastic news for the people of Newall Green. Making sure there is enough good quality, affordable housing available is a real challenge and one that Parkway Green are meeting.  Developments such as the New Foxfield site will make a huge difference to the local area.”

Local MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East Paul Goggins said, “There is a real shortage of affordable social housing across Wythenshawe. Every week people contact me desperate to move into a home they can call their own. The announcement by Parkway Green Housing Trust that 68 new houses and bungalows are to be built will bring real hope to many local families.”

Area Manager for the North West at the HCA Carl Moore said, “This new development is a major milestone in the regeneration of Newall Green. I’m pleased that the HCA has been able to invest and support this great scheme from the outset. I’m sure that through the dedication and hard work of all partners involved, these new homes will make an important contribution to the vitality of the area and provide much needed affordable homes for local people.”

Lovell regional director Nigel Yates said, “Our team is delighted to be using our expertise in delivering high-quality affordable housing to build these much-needed new homes. As part of our commitment to providing extensive benefits in the communities where we work, we will be delivering a wide range of job and training opportunities for local people through the new housing development.  These will include jobs on site, training placements and careers events with local schools.”
