Grainia Long appointed Chief executive of the CIH
Grainia Long has been officially appointed Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
Ms Long has been interim CEO since last August. She will take up the post immediately.
Helen Collins, chair of the governing board, said that Grainia had impressed the panel with her vision for housing.
She said: “We are facing immediate and unprecedented housing pressures that require a cool headed approach and practical solutions and felt that Grainia is well placed to meet these challenges.”
Robin Lawler, CIH president, said: “The appointment represents a huge milestone for CIH. Grainia has been doing a superb job as interim CEO and we have been constantly impressed by her and we are looking forward to beginning a new era.”
Grainia Long said: “I am thrilled to be the new CEO of CIH, which I believe is the best job in housing. I am delighted to be working with the Governing Board on a long-term vision for how we can help meet the nation’s housing aspirations.
"I am constantly impressed by our profession’s capacity for resilience and innovation - we have the very best people working in our sector who work tirelessly to create a better quality of living for everyone."
She added: “The CIH will be working hard to ensure that we empower all housing processionals to face the very real challenges ahead and we will do this by harnessing the collective knowledge and experiences of our individual members and partners.”
Following an election process in January, Orbit Chief Executive Paul Tennant has recently been elected Vice-President of the CIH.
