The trial of a housing director accused of conspiracy to supply class A drugs has begun at Newcastle Crown Court.

Susan Thompson, operations director at Middlesbrough-based Fabrick Housing Group, has been charged alongside four others - including her husband Paul Clive Thompson - with 'conspiracy to supply a controlled drug'.

The trial is expected to last six weeks.

Both Susan and Paul Clive Thompson deny the charge.

Fabrick is the parent company of Erimus Housing, based in Albert Road, Middlesbrough.

A spokesperson from Fabrick said: "Susie Thompson is absent from work whilst she faces charges unrelated to her work as an employee of Fabrick Housing Group.

"No further comment can be made until the outcome of the proceedings is known."
