Dale & Valley Homes appoints new assistant chief executive

County Durham housing company Dale & Valley Homes has appointed a new assistant chief executive to help lead it through a time of change.

Steve Richards, 51, has come to the North East from Nottingham, where he worked for Spirita, a housing association with more than 11,000 homes in the Midlands.

Steve is with Dale & Valley Homes for at least a year, while Marie Roe is on secondment to Durham County Council, running the review of council housing in the county.

He said: “I am delighted to join Dale & Valley Homes. It is a company at the top of its game, winning awards and showing the way social housing should be managed.

“The future holds many challenges with changes in Government policy and the council review. My role is to help the company adapt to these changes at the same time as improving the already high levels of customer satisfaction.

“I have only been here a couple of weeks but I am impressed with the attitude of people in the company.

“During my career I have worked in nearly all the various housing areas ranging from rents, repairs, customer services, homelessness, planned improvements and policy development for both local authorities and housing associations. I hope to use that experience to benefit the company and customers in my new job.”
