Residents and local business owners in Limehurst, Oldham, are being asked for their views on the future of their neighbourhood as part of a project to develop a ten year plan for the village.
Project director, Bill Lovat from Regenda said, “The views of local people are vital for the future development of Limehurst Village. We really care about the needs of our residents and we want to hear what they want on a range of issues which affect the area, particularly on where new homes, shops and offices are needed and what they should look like.”
He continued, “This is an exciting time for the community and I want everyone to get involved. We’re holding consultation events and focus groups over the next fortnight so that everyone has a chance to influence the future of Limehurst.”
The first consultation session was held at St Chad’s Centre on 20th January when local people had the chance to drop in and talk to Regenda’s project team.
Verity Mason, Project Officer said, “We had a great response, with lots of good ideas from everyone. The people here really care about the future of their village and have relished the opportunity to take part.”
Locals gave their opinions on topics including open spaces and play areas; jobs and employment for local people; new affordable housing; training and education opportunities and leisure facilities in the area, which will then be used to help shape the future of the community. Further events are being held at sites across Limehurst Village over the next fortnight.
